This is the 12th year of the Mascot Gold Cup, which set the Guinness World Record for the most mascots in a race back in 2015. The race is sponsored by Rotherwood Recruitment, in aid of Sue Ryder. The hospice provides “person-centered hospice and neurological care for people facing a frightening, life-changing diagnosis”.

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice Ward Manager, Sue Taylor, takes part in the Mascot Gold Cup this year

On 27th October this year, Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice Ward Manager Sue Taylor will be starting the journey of a lifetime, as she treks the world famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, all to raise funds for the Hospice. To support her fundraising for this fantastic trek, Sue is today going for glory in the 12th edition of the Mascot Gold Cup, dressed as the Meercat.

As Ward Manager, Sue knows only too well about the incredible care offered by Manorlands, both at the Hospice and throughout the local community, and it was with this in mind when she took the plunge and signed up for the Trek. Sue said ‘The care that is offered at Manorlands, to both patients and their families, truly is incredible, and made me want to do something more, which is why I’m this year trekking to Machu Picchu. The trek will be incredibly difficult, with lots of climbs and steep descents along the way, but for now my main concern is making it to the end of the course today as the Meercat!’
