Wear A Hat Day Supporting Brain Tumour Research

In just two weeks time we hold our Wear A Hat Day once more at Wetherby Races.  Join us on the 29th March and wear a hat to raise awareness for Brain Tumour Research. As well as the racing action, there will be entertainment and spot prizes for the best hats on the day, so wear your favourite hat and show your support!

The Story Of Will’s Way Charity

Alongside the action on the track and giving out spot prizes for the best hats; Will’s Way Charity will be attending on the day and holding a raffle, with some fantastic prizes including a pair of tickets for the Grand National.

In September 2016, 15yr old Will Barker was diagnosed with a Grade 2 Brain Tumour.  Will inspired everyone with his courage and bravery and the charity ‘Will’s Way’ was established with help and support from his family and friends.

“Will truly has been amazing, the diagnosis has not phased him what so ever, in fact made him a more positive and a stronger person.  This is why for me and my husband we feel like its our job to make the charity work to help others as we have a very healthy young man living life to the full.”

The charity aims to support families with children who find themselves in a similar situation to The Barkers, providing financial support for their families in Yorkshire, or with links to Yorkshire, or Rugby. They have received incredible support for the cause, and many celebrities have even shown their support after finding out about Will’s touching story, the Will’s Way sign is now a regular feature on Sky Sports after a Super League try.

“Within the last year, the amazing generosity we have received has been overwhelming and has enabled us to start to help Leeds General Infirmary ward L52, (children’s Neurosurgical ward) who did an amazing job of looking after Will.”

Gates open at 11:30am and there are 7 races throughout the day. Book tickets online in advance to take advantage of early booking discounts, and remember that kids go free.
