ROR Horses for Courses

Is an initiative pioneered by ROR to showcase the care given and opportunities available to racehorses once their racing days come to an end.

The RoR Horses for Courses programme has so far seen 25 racecourses around the country adopt an equine ambassador of which Wetherby is proud to be one. We are lucky to have three equine ambassadors, all of which we hope you enjoy following in their second careers.

Racing To School

We are proud to work with Racing to School, an education charity that aims to inspire young minds through the provision of free, interactive, and healthy outdoor educational events for schools.

We have so far welcomed children from St Joseph’s Catholic School Wetherby and the local Pony Club groups at a number of our racedays.

We would love to engage more schools in our area – to find out more about Racing to School please click here to visit their website.

Wetherby in support of the Elderly

Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) is a registered charity organisation that offer services to improve the quality of life for the over-60s in the Wetherby area.

Their services include befriending, transportation, and social activities for older people and also for those who care for them.

Twice annually we offer a free day out for up to 60 WiSE friends and volunteers, utilizing space in our private hospitality areas to provide a warm, quiet, and comfortable base so they can enjoy a day racing with friends.  We recently welcomed a gentleman in his late 90s attending his first-ever race meeting and, on a recent visit, WiSE opened the day up to members they support with dementia and their family carers, providing a much-welcomed social outing.
